Before the war, Ukraine was known for its long-established educational institutions, affordable cost of living and strong schools, especially in mathematics and science. Students who have completed part of their high school education in Ukraine and return to Turkey must obtain recognition (denklik) from the Turkish Ministry of National Education to continue their education where they left off. Students who earn a Ukrainian high school diploma must also obtain recognition of their diploma to apply to universities in Turkey.
The recognition application requires the courses taken and grades earned in Ukraine to be documented, and the documents must be certified and translated. Students who have difficulty accessing their documents are advised to speak with the Provincial Directorate of National Education to learn how to proceed.
